A Beginner’s Guide to the 30 Mile Meal

The 30 Mile Meal project in Athens connects local farmers and producers to restaurants, grocery stores, and directly to consumers. The program helps grow the local economy while bringing together the different businesses for the benefit of the community.

The Athens Farmer’s Market, 1000 E State Street in Athens, Ohio is open year-round on Saturdays from 9 a.m. – noon. It is also open Wednesdays from 9 a.m. – noon from April to December and on Thursdays from 4 – 7 p.m. from May to September. Products sold at Kroger are available year-round. Restaurants in uptown Athens create meals out of the 30 Mile Meal produce when readily available which is usually from late spring into late October or early November.
