No Class for Schuneman Symposium

Every year, the Scripps College of Communication hosts Communications Week, which includes the annual Schuneman Symposium. The symposium consists of several professionals in the journalism and communications world participating in panel discussions and presentations for Scripps students. Due to the importance of this event for all students, most journalism classes are cancelled to encourage students to attend the symposium. For that reason, the Athens Unearthed team will not be meeting in class today.

Not only is this event good for professional networking, but this time it will be informational and helpful for the Athens Unearthed project. Since we have to each develop social media plans and interactive aspects for our stories, the information we learn at the symposium can be directly applied to our projects. Some talks revolve around video production and infographics, which will definitely prove to be helpful. Students will be tweeting about the events with the hashtag #Smitty16 .

I am a senior journalism major at Ohio University. My perfect date is April 25th, because it's not too hot and not too cold. All you need is a light jacket!
